Project FAQs

Below you will find the most common questions and their answers, written in simple language and with a practical approach. They are organized so that you can locate what you need in seconds.

What is genomic newborn screening and how does it differ from traditional screening?
Genomic screening expands heel prick screening with genetic analysis to detect rare treatable pediatric diseases early, improving diagnosis times and therapeutic options.
Who can participate in the project and how do I apply?
Families informed at participating centers can join by signing the consent form. The sample is taken at the same time as the heel prick test, without any extra needle sticks.
When and how are the results communicated?
The results are communicated through the project's care channels. If a relevant and treatable finding appears, the clinical team will contact you to explain the steps and options.
How is data privacy and security protected?
The data is processed in a pseudo-anonymized manner, with restricted access and traceability. Only authorized personnel may access the information for healthcare and scientific purposes.
What happens if I want to withdraw my consent?
You can remove it whenever you want. We will stop using your data/samples for new analyses; the team will explain the impact on processes already carried out.
